Woodland Cannons
These pieces are in Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa. The 4.5 inch Ordnance rifle, M1861, was made at the Fort Pitt Foundry in 1865. It is located in the GAR section on the east side of the cemetery. Two 8 inch siege mortars, M1861, cast at Cyrus Alger & Co., are located in the south GAR section of the cemetery. The entrance is at the corner of Woodland and MLK Jr. Parkway. Photos taken 9/21/07.
