Cannon at Cemetery
This Civil War cannon flanks the entrance to the Story City or Fairview Cemetery. It is a 6 pounder Griffen gun, Type 2. The only inscription is the name of foundry - Phoenix Iron Company. On the other side of the road is a Maxim-Nordenfelt 6 pounder navel gun. It is said to be a trophy of the Spanish-American War. The cemetery is in the NE part of town. Take Grand north from Broad (the main E/W street). Photos taken 7/12/17.
