Soldier Monument
This soldier monument is in Oakdale Cemetery. The inscription reads, “Erected in Memory of Unknown Soldiers of the Union Army.” It was dedicated May 30, 1900 by Fort Donelson Post No. 23 and citizens of Webster County. It is about 15 feet tall. The monument has orange colored lichen growing on the surface. Follow 15th Street north to the first cemetery entrance. Then follow the main road in the cemetery to the monument on the top of the hill. Photos taken 10/28/08.
