Camp Harlan and Medal of Honor Plaques
This memorial is on the spot of Camp Harlan. See the photo below for more historical information about the Camp. Also see a plaque honoring Medal of Honor Recipients in the 4th Iowa Cavalry. There were an unusually large number of 12 MOH recipients honored from this regiment. The bronze plaque was dedicated in 1930. The plaque with more detail on Camp Harlan and the MOH plaque were erected more recently. There was a dedication of the MOH plaque on 5/28/11 ( see the final photo.) The other photos were taken 9/1/20. This memorial is on the corner of Hickory and Courtland on the NW side of town. It is across the street from the clubhouse at the Country Club.
