Courthouse Monument
This is a very impressive monument at the Clayton County Courthouse. It includes a bronze soldier and sailor, two bas relief panels of battle scenes, Gettysburg Address and an eagle. The courthouse is NE of the river and business district. The first photo, taken in June, 2015 by Court Stahr, shows the completely restored monument. The second photo, taken in March 2008, shows the sailor missing the telescope. The third photo shows the sailor with hand and telescope restored. Also, extensive repair work was needed on the soldier and the eagle. SUVCW members Ricky Stewart, David Lamb and Court Stahr should be commended for an enormous amont of effort on this project. Ricky Stewart is a talented artist who fabricated the hand and telescope and did other repair work.
