Soldier Monument Springdale Cemetery
This is an 18 foot monument with a mustachioed soldier atop a circular granite column in Springdale Cemetery. The second photo shows the inscription that the monument was erected by the GAR and WRC in 1891. On a visit on 10/9/20 it was noted that the headstones were in terrible condition - see the final photo for an example of about 60 of the CW headstones. The monument is a bit difficult to locate but is in the GAR section in the central part of the cemetery. The entrance is off North Bluff Street. The first photo was taken 7/23/08 - the second and third were taken 10/9/20.
