Medal of Honor Recipient Richard H. Morgan
Corporal Morgan (1840-1916) of the 4th Iowa Cavalry was awarded the Medal of Honor for capturing the enemy flag at Columbus, Georgia on April 16, 1865. He lived in Taylor County before the war and returned later in his life. He is buried in Memory Cemetery just west of New Market. The cemetery is south of Highway 2 - take Xavier Place to the cemetery. The location within the cemetery is in Lawn G - it is a gray stone NE of the veterans memorial. Photo taken 2/8/09.
