Medal of Honor Recipient Peter T. Anderson
Private Anderson (1847-1907) was awarded the Medal of Honor for saving a cannon from enemy capture while under fire at Bentonville, North Carolina on March 19, 1865. He enlisted at the age of 16 in the 31st Wisconsin Infantry. After the war he moved to Newell, Iowa. Newell Cemetery is in the NE part of town - take Fulton Street through the business district - then turn east on Jensen. The location is in the SE portion of the Cemetery. Photos taken 2/24/09.
