Civil War Monument
This is a marble Civil War Monument in the Winfield-Scott Township Cemetery. It would have been erected shortly after the end of the War. It honors 12 Civil War soldiers who gave their lives for their country. There are three soldiers on each side of the monument. Some of the names are difficult to read. The cemetery is on the SE side of town - take 130th Street on the south edge of town. The monument is by the flagpole in the east central portion of the cemetery. Thank you to Pat Ryan White for informtion about this monument. Photos taken 5/28/11.
