Last Soldier Theodore Yetts Memorial
Theodore F. Yetts (1847-1941) was the the last Civil War soldier in Clarke County. He was a member of Company K, 129th Indiana Infantry Regiment. On August 23, 2014 a ceremony was held to honor him and place a plaque at his gravesite. The final photo shows SUVCW member Mike Rowley (in uniform), who conducted the ceremony, with other local residents who attended. The attractive Hopeville Cemetery is in SW Clarke County. Take Highway 34 west of Osceola - then R15 south about 5 miles to Elk Street - then 2.5 miles to the Cemetery. Take the west entrance - the Yetts site is on the right of the road toward the back of the Cemetery. Photos taken 8/23/14.
