Last soldier Henry A. White
Private Henry White was the last living soldier of Mahaska County. He passed away February 20, 1945 at age 100. He served with Company H, 184th New York Infantry. On June 4, 2017 SUVCW members conducted a ceremony and placed a plaque at his grave. University Park Cemetery is on the north edge of town. Take 9th Avenue E into town - then take Center north through the college campus to the cemetery. The gravesite is on the left next to the road as you enter the cemetery. Photos taken 6/4/17.
