Last Soldier Darius P. Kerns
Private Darius Kerns (1844-1939) was the last living soldier of Adams County. He served in Company F, 83rd Pennsylvania Infantry. On October 14, 2017, members of the SUVCW Kinsman Camp placed a Last Soldier marker at his gravesite. Prairie Rose Cemetery is SW of Corning at the corner of 270th Street and Holly Avenue. From Highway 148, take 270th west to the cemetery. The gravesite is in the center of the cemetery near trees. Photos taken 10/14/17.
