Last Soldier Harrison R. Crecelius
Private Harrison Crecelius (1847-1945) was the last living soldier in Ringgold County. He served in the Indiana Infantry and was not assigned to a specific regiment. On October 14, 2017 a ceremony was held to honor Private Crecelius and place the last soldier marker. The first photo, thanks to Linda Linn, shows members of the Kinsman SUVCW Camp and local American Legion members who participated in the ceremony. Middle Fork Cemetery is by the Middle Fork Methodist Church which is on the National Register of Historic Places. To reach the cemetery, go south of Redding, then take 310th Street east to the cemetery. Photos taken 10/14/2017.
