Last Soldier James T. Jackson
Corporal James Jackson (1844-1936) was the last living soldier of Hancock County but was buried in Wright County. A native of Ireland, he served in Company D of the 36th Wisconsin Infantry. On October 20, 2017, SUVCW members Danny Krock, Dan Green and Don McGuire honored Corporal Jackson by placing a marker and holding a ceremony at his gravesite. This is located in the Amsterdam Township Cemetery west of Kanawha on 120th Street. The gravesite is in the SW corner of the cemetery. Photo taken 10/20/17.
