Last Soldier Gifford S. Robinson
Private Gifford Robinson was the last living soldier of Dickinson County but was buried in Buena Vista County. He served in Company H, 115th Illinois Regiment and was wounded at the Battle of Chickamauga. He was an Iowa legislator and member of the Iowa Supreme Court, including three years as Chief Justice. He is buried in the Storm Lake Cemetery, 1749 East Lakeshore Drive, in Division B, Plot 43, and Grave 2.
